Local restaurants, amenities & attractions close to Glasshouse Phuket

How far is the nearest beach?

The villa is situated on a small peninsula and close to two separate beaches, each just a few minutes walk away. Khao Khad is 1-2 minutes walk from the villa with nearly 1km stretch of beach. It’s undeveloped with just a few beach bars and restaurants. Most guests prefer Ao Yon beach which is 2-3 minutes walk and is also quiet and undeveloped. Both beaches are relatively sheltered and don’t have the high waves and rip tides that the west coast beaches experience.

Where can we buy essentials like drinks, snacks, toiletries?

There’s a 7-11 convenience store just 30 metres from the Glasshouse and a Family Mart is about 250 metres away. Both are open 24 hours, have an ATM and a wide range of products including drinks, ice, snacks, confectionary, ice cream, toiletries and other essentials. They also sell alcohol during permitted hours (11am-2pm, 5pm-midnight)

Where is the nearest market and supermarket?

The nearest outdoor food markets are in Borae, a nearby village. One is open all day and the other, slightly closer and more interesting, is open late afternoon to early evening. These sell fruit, vegetables, fresh fish, meat & cooked food as well as Thai desserts and other local products.

The nearest supermarket is Super Cheap in Makham Bay.

Both of these are 5 minutes drive away.

The big international style supermarkets in Phuket Central are about 15-20 minutes away. If there’s something very specific that you need, Central Food Hall at Floresta has a world class range of imported products.

Is there a pharmacy nearby?

Yes, there’s a pharmacy about 1 minute walk from the Glasshouse.

Where can I get a traditional Thai massage nearby?

With just a few hours notice, we can usually arrange for an in-house traditional or oil massage. Alternatively, there are options for local-style massage on the nearby beaches. For a more upscale spa experience, Shine Spa is just 3-4 minutes walk from the villa.

What restaurants and bars are nearby?

Ao Yon and Khao Khad have a wide range of places to eat and drink. From street-side vendors selling fresh fruit shakes and freshly brewed coffee to a broad range of restaurants offering Western and Thai food, there’s no shortage of options within easy walking distance of the Glasshouse. Many of these have stunning beachside settings and range from low cost, local style bar/restaurants to more upscale eateries. There are numerous more restaurants within a 5-7 minute drive of the villa and it’s easy to get a taxi/van there and back.

I include my personal recommendations in my welcome letter and it’s always worth reading the guest book in the Glasshouse for insightful comments from previous guests.

What’s the best way to get around Phuket?

There’s no real public transport in Phuket and the best way to get around is by taxi. There are several taxi companies that use passenger vans within 1-3 minutes walk of the Glasshouse. You can either take a taxi one-way or ask the driver to wait and take you back. Alternatively, the Grab app service operates in Phuket and provides another way to get around.

There are car rental and motorbike rental companies nearby but we do not recommend self-driving as road traffic accidents are common in Thailand and the consequences of being involved in an accident can be severe.

What’s the best way to organize a bespoke day trip in Phuket or on the water?

I recommend the services of Heike from South East Asia Dreams. She’s always provided me and Glasshouse guests with a great service and can organise anything bespoke to meet your needs. Her contact is:
